The one thing almost all our judges could agree on is low fees for U.S. exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which is how iShares Core S&P US Total Market Index ETF (XUU) and TD U.S. Equity Index ETF (TPU) rose to the top of our polling. But there was also strong support for Vanguard U.S. Total Market Index ETF (VUN), which for a slightly higher fee includes exposure to more than 3,500 U.S. stocks. In other words, if one or two of those smaller holdings turn out to be the next Nvidia, the fund’s holders will benefit.
